The Scent
A warm, spicy-sweet woody amber. Juicy mandarin and pink pepper open it bright and a little zesty, then Bulgarian rose and Atlas cedar move in, resting on a base of benzoin, vanilla, and patchouli. Smooth, cozy, and easy to wear, with just enough spice to keep the sweetness in check. Its projection is refined rather than loud, which makes it a comfortable choice for the office or everyday cooler-weather wear, and it leans easily unisex despite being marketed for men.

Worth Knowing
It's frequently brought up as a wallet-friendly alternative to YSL Tuxedo, sharing a similar warm, vanillic, woody-rose character at a fraction of the price. Worth keeping in mind that this 2018 Eau de Parfum is a modern reinterpretation rather than a faithful copy of the 1949 original, so anyone chasing the vintage citrus-chypre Moustache should know it's a different scent wearing a familiar name.

Where It Came From
The Moustache name goes back to 1949, when Edmond Roudnitska created the original for Rochas, a bright citrus chypre named after Van Dyck's portrait of King Charles I of England and his fine whiskers. Interparfums revived it in 2018 in two directions: a faithful Original 1949 Eau de Toilette for purists, and this warmer, woodier Eau de Parfum composed by Nathalie Gracia-Cetto for a more contemporary take.

About Rochas
Marcel Rochas founded his couture house in Paris in 1925 at just 23 years old, earning the nickname "the couturier of youth" for bold, practical designs like the wasp-waist corset, the mermaid gown, and skirts with pockets. He moved into fragrance in the 1930s, and the house's most famous scent, Femme, arrived in the 1940s as a tribute to his wife Hélène, composed by the legendary Edmond Roudnitska. After Marcel's death in 1955, Hélène steered the house toward perfumery, and Rochas has been part of Interparfums since 2015.
