As someone who loves juicy, candy-sweet, and vibrant fragrances (my absolute favorites are Emporio Armani Power of You and YSL Mon Paris), Valentino Donna Born in Roma was disappointing for me. Immediately upon spraying it, I felt like I had a nose full of dry powder. I kept waiting for the sweet blackcurrant or the rich bourbon vanilla to come through, but I honestly couldn't identify the fruitiness or the vanilla at all. On my skin, this smells heavily musky, dry, and woody. Instead of a delicious, sweet vanilla, it feels very heavy and overpowering in a dusty way.
That being said, if you are someone who prefers a more formal, classic perfume warmth over an edible, sugary sweetness, this could be a great choice. It is likely better suited for those who enjoy a blend of soft cosmetics and clean woods.
It just didn’t give me that mouth-watering sweetness I was looking for, so it's a pass for me.
