The Scent

Rosewood, cardamom and a pinch of peppery spice open onto the point of the whole thing: a smooth, sweetly smoky oud rounded out with creamy sandalwood and vetiver, settling into tonka, vanilla and amber. This is oud with the rough edges planed off (warm and polished rather than animalic), and that is exactly why it became the standard introduction to the note.

Worth Knowing

It wears closer to the skin than its reputation suggests (refined warmth rather than a room-filler), which is why people who find most ouds loud tend to get along with this one.

Where It Came From

One of the original Private Blends that launched the line in 2007, composed by Richard Herpin. It has since grown its own family (Oud Wood Intense, Oud Wood Parfum, Oud Minérale), but the 2007 original is the one the others get measured against.
