The Scent

Grapefruit opens cold and bitter, cut with orange blossom and a pale, earthy sage that reviewers single out as the most distinctive part of the opening. The heart moves into orris, nutmeg, and pimento, rounding the sharp top without pushing it sweet. Vetiver, oakmoss, and amber settle the base into a dry, woody finish. Reviewer consensus reads the whole thing as clean, citrusy, and businesslike, one aggregation described it as an airport lounge or business meeting scent rather than an evening statement. This is the original Grey Vetiver, the 2009 release that gave the whole line its name. We also carry the 2023 Grey Vetiver Parfum, a warmer flanker stripped down to three notes, orange blossom, saffron, and Haitian vetiver. This EDP keeps the full pyramid and the brighter, more citrus-sage, soapy "barbershop" character the line started with. The clone market has actually built against this composition rather than the newer Parfum. Armaf's Just Jack Vetiver, also sold as Grey Vetiver Twist, and Fragrenza's Vétiver Boisé both copy this EDP's grapefruit, orange blossom, and sage top over orris, nutmeg, and pimento directly. Reviewers rate Just Jack Vetiver as close to indistinguishable after the first ten minutes, with a more linear drydown. Where It Came From

Grey Vetiver Eau de Parfum launched in September 2009, the founding release of Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver family and part of Tom Ford Beauty's wider-distribution Signature collection. The line was later extended with a lighter 2014 eau de toilette and, in 2023, the warmer Grey Vetiver Parfum. Perfumer Harry Fremont built the original composition for IFF.
