The Scent
Bergamot, lemon, and rose open bright and clean, more resort-fresh than sweet. Cherry and apple show up in the heart but play a supporting role to the rose rather than driving the scent, and it settles into a soft, musky-ambery patchouli base that reads comforting rather than assertive. Light-to-moderate longevity and sillage, typical of an eau de toilette at this concentration.
Worth Knowing
This is the current (January 2025) reformulation of the eau de toilette, noticeably lighter and rosier than the cherry-almond-licorice gourmand the La Petite Robe Noire name built its reputation on. Guerlain dropped the licorice note entirely and shifted the emphasis from cherry to rose under perfumer Delphine Jelk. If you're comparing this bottle to older reviews or dupe videos of La Petite Robe Noire, know that most of that content covers the earlier cherry-almond-licorice profile, not this lighter current formula.
Where It Came From
The La Petite Robe Noire name launched in 2012 under perfumer Thierry Wasser and has spawned one of Guerlain's largest flanker families, including Intense, Absolue, Eau Fraîche, and L'Extrait. The eau de toilette specifically was reworked and relaunched in January 2025.
About Guerlain
Guerlain was founded in Paris in 1828 by Pierre-François Pascal Guerlain, making it one of the oldest continuously operating French perfume houses. It stayed family-run for over 160 years until LVMH acquired it in 1994, and its back catalog includes landmark releases like Jicky, Shalimar, and Mitsouko.
