The Scent
Classic barbershop: lavender, clary sage and bergamot over rosewood, then a proper floral heart of rose, geranium and jasmine that most modern masculines would never attempt, landing on dry patchouli, sandalwood, cedar and a touch of vanilla. Grown-up, a little old-school, and closer to Tom Ford Beau de Jour than the price difference suggests.
Worth Knowing
Owners of both older and current bottles argue about whether it wears as strongly as it used to, though nobody claims the scent itself has changed character. Expect moderate projection that stays fairly close after the opening. It has also been rumoured discontinued for years while remaining perfectly easy to buy, so treat that with the scepticism it deserves.
Where It Came From
Released in 1986, named after Zino Davidoff himself, and it predates Cool Water by two years.
About Davidoff
Davidoff began as a Geneva tobacco house founded by Zino Davidoff, who built his name on cigars before the brand expanded into fragrance in the 1980s. The fragrance line is now produced under Coty.
