The Scent
A modern designer classic, and one of the most respected fresh woody scents out there. Orange and grapefruit open bright, sharpened by pepper, then a mineral flint accord and vetiver, settling on cedar, patchouli, oakmoss, and benzoin. Built vertically around wood and stone rather than sweetness, it reads refined and grown up. Versatile and long-wearing, a scent for work, daytime, and just about any season.
Worth Knowing
Perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena, Hermes's in-house nose at the time, has said his inspiration came from the writing of French author Jean Giono, who he described as someone who truly loved the richness of nature.
Where It Came From
Launched in March 2006, and it's remained one of Hermès' signature men's fragrances ever since.
About Hermes
Hermès is a French luxury house founded in 1837, originally as a harness and saddle workshop before growing into one of the world's most respected names in leather goods, fashion, and fragrance. Terre d'Hermès represents the brand's philosophy of craftsmanship carried into perfumery, treating scent with the same care as its leatherwork.
