The Scent
Mandarin, bergamot, and grapefruit open sharp and citrusy, cold enough to snap you awake. Orange blossom softens the top within minutes, and raspberry and black currant add a tart fruit snap underneath. The base is where Oriana turns properly gourmand: marshmallow and whipped cream settle in under a clean wash of musk and ambrette, with vanilla rounding out the finish, turning what opened tart into something soft, creamy, and a little playful. It reads bright rather than heavy, a citrus dessert more than a dense oriental, and it wears easily from a morning coffee run through a dinner date.
Worth Knowing
Oriana sits in Parfums de Marly’s women’s line as one of its lighter, fruitier gourmands, built by Nathalie Lorson and Hamid Merati-Kashani rather than the house’s more solitary in-house perfumers. It leans closer to a citrus dessert than the deeper ambers the brand is best known for.
Where It Came From
Released in 2021, Oriana added a playful, marshmallow-leaning gourmand to a Parfums de Marly women’s lineup otherwise dominated by rose and iris.
About Parfums de Marly
Julien Sprecher founded Parfums de Marly in 2009, drawing on his family's deep roots in the perfume industry and his own fascination with 18th century France. The name comes from Château de Marly, a retreat built for King Louis XIV; the brand celebrates the 18th-century court of Louis XV, famous for its love of fragrance. The brand's logo features the Chevaux de Marly, the famous horse sculptures from the chateau grounds, tying the whole collection back to that era of French elegance.
