The Scent

The 2026 Extrait is the first Sauvage built around oud. Ambroxan, lavender and bergamot open it in a way that is recognisably Sauvage, then a Vietnamese oud heart takes over and the base runs on patchouli, vetiver and two cedars, Virginia and Atlas. It is drier and woodier than the Elixir and much darker than the Eau de Parfum. This is the one to try if you have written the line off as too mainstream.

Worth Knowing

Francis Kurkdjian took over as Dior's perfume creation director and this is a Sauvage in his hands rather than Demachy's, which is the interesting part. It launched in 2026 and almost nobody in Canada is decanting it yet.

Christian Dior showed his first collection in 1947, the "New Look" that put Paris back at the centre of fashion after the war. Parfums Dior launched the same year with Miss Dior, named for his sister Catherine. He died in 1957; the house continued, and today sits inside LVMH.
