The Scent

Frankincense, elemi, and cardamom open with anise and basil layered through bergamot, a spiced resinous top with real bite. The heart is where the tobacco shows up: tobacco absolute and liquorice root over lavender, prunol, fenugreek, orange blossom, osmanthus, and rose, a wide, layered floral-spice heart built around the name's promise. The base is enormous: frankincense resinoid, Peru balsam, benzoin, labdanum, myrrh, birch tar, tonka bean, vanilla, vetiver, guaiac wood, Assam oud, and musks. It is dense, resinous, and built to last.

Worth Knowing

Opus XIV Royal Tobacco is part of Amouage's Library Collection and carries the brand's own "Beyond Gender" framing, one of the categories in Amouage's Icon Award series. It was composed by perfumer Cécile Zarokian.

Where It Came From

Released in 2022, Opus XIV continues the Library Collection's practice of building a fragrance around a single reference idea, in this case tobacco, expanded into a full amber-resinous composition rather than a simple tobacco accord.
