Jean Paul Gaultier's original Le Male came out in 1995. These are two of its biggest modern flankers: Le Male Le Parfum from 2020 and Le Male Elixir from 2023. We hand-decant both from authentic bottles in Regina. They share DNA: both are built on lavender and vanilla, both tagged in our system for fall, winter, evenings, and date nights. Same family, different jobs
The short version: Le Parfum is the polished one, Elixir is the loud one. Our Le Parfum notes call it a warm, smooth designer oriental, a deeper, sweeter turn on the classic Le Male, polished and easy to wear. Our Elixir notes call it the densest, most indulgent flanker of Le Male, sweet, warm, and a little animalic from the honey. One is built to sit close and read dressy. The other is built to be noticed.
Le Male Le Parfum: the polished one
Released in 2020 as a modern reinterpretation of the 1995 original, composed by Quentin Bisch and Nathalie Gracia-Cetto. Cardamom opens it, lavender and iris sit in the middle, and it settles into creamy vanilla and woods. Bisch kept the two signature notes people love from the original Le Male, lavender and cardamom, and rebuilt everything else around a warmer, more oriental woody backbone. Our notes describe a soft spiced sweetness that reads dressy without trying, with strong wear and pleasant projection. It's the safer pick of the two: dinners, dates, anywhere you want to smell put together rather than loud.
Le Male Elixir: the loud one
Released in 2023, composed by Quentin Bisch, the in-demand nose whose other credits include the niche release Ganymede. Fresh lavender and mint open with real bite, then vanilla and benzoin, over a deep base of honey, tonka bean, and tobacco. The honey gives it a slightly animalic edge, and the tobacco and tonka make it heavier and more gourmand than Le Parfum. Our Family tags put the Elixir in Gourmand, which Le Parfum isn't. Our notes call the projection strong and the wear long, and the product is generally praised for exceptional projection. This is the cold-evening, night-out pick. It has since grown into its own family, with an Elixir Absolu flanker arriving in 2025.

Buy Le Male Le Parfum if you want one bottle that works almost anywhere after 5pm: it's smoother, more polished, and easier to wear around other people. Buy Le Male Elixir if you want presence: it's sweeter, heavier, and projects harder, built for cold nights and rooms where you want to be noticed.
