About Guerlain
Pierre-François Pascal Guerlain, a chemist and perfumer, founded the house in Paris in 1828, building custom scents for high society clients. His break came in 1853, when he created Eau de Cologne Impériale, which earned him the title of official perfumer to the French court. The Guerlain family ran the house across five generations, creating a catalog that eventually spanned hundreds of fragrances, including landmark names like Jicky, Shalimar, and Mitsouko, until LVMH acquired it in 1994. It remains one of the most respected names in the history of perfumery.

Guerlain Vetiver was composed by Jean-Paul Guerlain in 1959, years before he took over as the family's head perfumer, and it's stayed in permanent production ever since, a rare thing in an industry where most releases come and go within a few seasons. Lemon, bergamot, and coriander open it, nutmeg, pepper, jasmine, and tobacco carry the heart, and it settles into vetiver, cedar, and tonka bean. La Petite Robe Noire EDT: the current, lighter reformulation
La Petite Robe Noire eau de toilette is the January 2025 reformulation, composed by Delphine Jelk. Bergamot, lemon, and rose open bright and resort-fresh, cherry and apple play a supporting role to the rose through the heart, and it closes on tonka bean, musk, patchouli, and amber. This current version is noticeably lighter and rosier than the cherry-almond-licorice gourmand that built the La Petite Robe Noire name's reputation: Guerlain dropped the licorice note entirely and shifted the emphasis from cherry to rose. Worth knowing if you're comparing this bottle against older reviews or dupe videos, most of that content covers the earlier, sweeter formula, not this one.
Mon Guerlain Intense: the deepened flanker
Mon Guerlain Intense, full name Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum Intense, launched in 2019 as a deepened take on the 2017 original, developed by the same perfumer pairing, Thierry Wasser and Delphine Jelk. Lavender, mandarin orange, and bergamot open it, a heart built on two vanillas, Tahitian and Madagascar, alongside iris, jasmine sambac, and rose follows, and the base turns serious: coumarin, patchouli, licorice, benzoin, Australian sandalwood, and white musk for a velvety, cashmere-like warmth. It's sweeter, woodier, and less lavender-forward than the original Mon Guerlain, presented in Guerlain's historic quadrilobé bottle, a design dating back to 1908.
