Why warm fragrances read differently in winter

Cold, dry air carries scent less than warm air does, so a fragrance built on light citrus or aquatic notes can read as almost nothing once you step outside. Amber, vanilla, spice and gourmand notes hold up better in the cold. Every fragrance in this set leans into that register: French Avenue Liquid Brun and Lattafa Khamrah Qahwa both build on cinnamon and cardamom, one with candied almond and orange blossom, the other with coffee and praline. Emporio Armani Stronger With You Intensely adds toffee and violet over an amber base, Parfums de Marly Layton pairs apple with cardamom and jasmine over guaiac wood, and Guerlain Mon Guerlain Intense closes the set with vanilla, benzoin and sandalwood, the most classical structure of the five.
