The Scent

Fresh and easygoing, like a cool breeze off the water. Green apple and leaves up top, a soft watery floral in the middle, then a light woody musk that settles close to the skin. Nothing complicated, nothing loud, just clean and likeable. A safe, affordable everyday scent for work, class, or warm weather, and a great first fragrance if you're new to all this.

Worth Knowing

This is one of those bottles that shows up on nearly every "first fragrance" list you'll find, and it's earned that spot. It's reportedly been a top seller on Amazon for over a decade, which is a wild thing to pull off in a category full of hyped niche releases that come and go. People in fragrance circles half-jokingly call it "the unstoppable blue machine" because it just refuses to stop selling. Maurice Roucel, the perfumer behind it, also has some genuinely celebrated work under his belt, including Musc Ravageur.

Where It Came From

Voyage came out in 2006, and it did well enough that Nautica kept building on it over the years. You'll find Voyage N-83 from 2013, a Heritage version from 2018, and a stronger Intense take that showed up in 2025. That's a long life for a mall-brand release.

About Nautica

Nautica started in 1983, founded by a designer named David Chu, who picked the name from the Latin word for nautical as a nod to sailors' coats. It rode the big American sportswear wave of the 80s and 90s alongside names like Tommy Hilfiger and Polo Ralph Lauren, and at its peak it was pulling in over a billion dollars a year worldwide. VF Corporation bought the brand in 2003, and Authentic Brands Group has owned it since 2018.
