Parfums de Marly Canada: Delina, Layton, Herod and More Decants

Parfums de Marly is a French niche house, and full bottles usually run a few hundred dollars. The brand won't sell you a sample of one fragrance on its own either: official samples only come as fixed multi-scent discovery sets. A decant closes that gap. We hand-decant seven of the house's fragrances in Regina, starting at 2ml: Delina, Layton, Herod, Oriana, Greenley, Delina Exclusif, and Carlisle. The whole lineup lives in our Parfums de Marly collection.

About Parfums de Marly

Julien Sprecher started the house in 2009. His family had deep roots in the perfume industry, and he was fascinated by 18th century France, so the whole brand leans into that era: the name comes from Château de Marly, a retreat built for King Louis XIV, the branding celebrates the court of Louis XV and its famous love of fragrance, and the horses on the logo are the Chevaux de Marly, the sculptures from the chateau grounds. In practice the house sits between designer and niche: maximalist, richly blended fragrances at prices below most fully niche houses.

Delina: the modern floral built around Turkish rose

Delina is the obvious starting point. Litchi opens it bright, then Turkish rose takes over and stays. Soft, a little sweet, never cloying. It's one of the house's signature women's releases, and it moves from a spring afternoon to a date to a special occasion without you doing anything differently. Delina has grown into a small family of its own too: the richer Delina Exclusif, and a lighter Delina La Rosee we don't currently stock.

Layton: the one people ask about

Cooler months, day or night. There's a richer Layton Exclusif we don't carry, but the standard Layton is crisp apple over vanilla, smooth and a little spicy the whole way through, and it's the kind of scent people ask about wherever you wear it. One of the most talked-about scents in modern niche perfumery, and it earns that.

Herod: cinnamon and tobacco

Herod is the tobacco one. Dry cinnamon over smoky tobacco leaf, going sweet and warm on the dry-down. Fall, winter, after dark. Prestigious, gourmand and opulent is how the brand describes it, and the fragrance plays that straight.

Oriana: the citrus dessert

Cold grapefruit at the start, dessert by the end. Oriana opens sharp and citrusy, then marshmallow settles in and it finishes soft, creamy, and a little playful. Spring and summer, mostly, and it wears easily from a morning coffee run through to a dinner date. Bright rather than heavy.

Greenley: the office pick

$15 for 2ml, the cheapest of the seven. Greenley stays out of the way, and that's a compliment: green apple over clean, dry woods, unisex, built to disappear into a normal day rather than announce itself.

Delina Exclusif: Delina, after dark

Delina Exclusif is Delina turned up, and the two are worth keeping straight. Same perfumer, one year later, reworked into a full Parfum concentration for the Les Exclusifs line: a heavier, longer-lasting counterpart built on purpose, rather than a separate composition. The women's Parfum keeps Turkish rose at the center, moves oud in behind it, and lets the base go warm and resinous where the original stays lighter. Evening rather than everyday, fall and winter rather than spring. We carry both. They're different fragrances, so double-check which one is in your cart.

Carlisle: loud, sweet, resinous

Carlisle doesn't do subtle. Sweet-spiced apple and saffron up front, then it goes dense and honeyed into a plush, resinous base that hangs on for hours. Sweeter and more resinous than most of the brand's spiced orientals, closer in spirit to a gourmand than to its leaner leather-and-wood releases. Unisex. Cold weather, and nights you want to be remembered.

Which one to start with

Layton, if you want one answer. Warm, sweet, spicy, works day into night, and $17 for 2ml makes it the low-risk way in. For daytime in spring and summer, Delina leads with rose. Oriana pushes further into marshmallow and citrus and is the more playful of the two. Buying something for the office? Greenley. The other three want a cold night.

Want the Marly direction for less?

We also carry French Avenue Liquid Brun, a $10 decant positioned against Parfums de Marly Althair, an original we don't stock. It won't stand in for any of the seven Marly originals... but if you're curious about the house's general direction, $10 is a cheap way to find out. Shop Liquid Brun.

Try before you blind buy

A $20 decant is real money next to most of what else we stock. It's also a fraction of a full Parfums de Marly bottle. Start any of the seven at 2ml, and if one turns out to be your scent, decide on the full bottle with actual information instead of a guess. Our discovery sets are another way to line up a few houses side by side before committing to anything.

Frequently asked questions

What Parfums de Marly fragrances does Atelier Elemental carry?

Seven: Delina, Layton, Herod, Oriana, Greenley, Delina Exclusif, and Carlisle, all hand-decanted from authentic full-size bottles in Regina, Saskatchewan.

What's the difference between Delina and Delina Exclusif?

They're a deliberate pair, not the same juice at two strengths. Delina is the original 2017 Eau de Parfum: bright, fruity, rose-led. Delina Exclusif is the 2018 Parfum, denser and warmer with oud and incense added to the rose, built as a heavier, longer-lasting evening counterpart to the original.

Does Parfums de Marly sell samples of its own fragrances?

Only as fixed multi-scent discovery sets, never as single-fragrance samples. A decant from us gets you a real, wearable amount of the one fragrance you actually want.

What decant sizes do you offer for Parfums de Marly?

2ml, 5ml, 10ml, and 30ml decants across all seven Parfums de Marly fragrances we carry, priced in CAD.

How does shipping work?

We're based in Regina and hand-decant every order from authentic bottles. Orders over $55 ship free to the provinces to Canadian provinces, $150 in the three territories, and Regina orders of $25 or more qualify for free hand delivery.
